Ask Your Fleet Anything: DrivePro Now Connects to AI Assistants
Share
What if you could ask your fleet management software a question in plain English and get a direct answer?
Instead of opening several screens, filtering reports and searching through vehicle timelines, you could ask:
“Where is Van 3 right now?”
Or:
“Which vehicles have not reported in the last day?”
DrivePro now connects to compatible AI assistants, such as Claude, through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). This lets you ask questions about your vehicles, trips, drivers and alerts using everyday language.
The connection is read-only by default. If you are an administrator, you can optionally allow the assistant to make specific changes, with your confirmation and a full audit trail.
What is MCP?
MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It is an open standard that allows AI assistants to connect securely to other services.
You can think of it as a secure link between your AI assistant and DrivePro. Once connected, the assistant can read the DrivePro information you permit it to access and present it in a simple conversation.
DrivePro now has its own MCP server. This means a compatible assistant can work with your fleet data without you having to move information between systems manually.
MCP does not replace your DrivePro account. It gives you another way to use it. Particularly when you need a quick answer, a summary or help finding a specific event.

Seven ways to ask your fleet questions
The most useful feature of an AI connection is the ability to ask questions naturally. You do not need to remember which report contains the information or which filter to select.
1. Find out where everything is
Start with straightforward location questions:
- “Where is Van 3 right now?”
- “Which vehicles are at the depot?”
This can help you get a quick view of your fleet when vehicles are spread across different jobs, sites or areas.
For a small business, this means less time checking individual vehicle records. You can ask about one vehicle or get a broader view of vehicles currently at a particular location.
2. Check trips and mileage
Trip history and mileage information can take time to review manually, especially when you are checking a particular driver, vehicle or time period.
Try asking:
- “How many miles did Sarah drive last week?”
- “Show me yesterday’s trips for the Transit.”
- “Where was the van at 2:30pm on Tuesday?”
These questions can help you review journeys, confirm vehicle movements and find a particular point in a trip.
You can also continue the conversation if you need more detail. For example, after asking about a vehicle’s trips, you could ask a follow-up question about a specific time or location.
DrivePro also provides trip recording tools for reviewing vehicle journeys in the usual way.
3. Review driving behaviour
Driving behaviour data can help you identify patterns and support better conversations with drivers.
Example prompts include:
- “How was Sarah’s driving score this month?”
- “Any harsh braking on yesterday’s trips?”
Using an assistant can make it easier to ask focused questions about a driver or a particular period. You can use the answers as a starting point for further review, driver feedback or internal fleet discussions.
The aim is not to replace your judgement. It is to help you find relevant information more quickly.
4. Investigate alerts and events
Alerts and vehicle events can provide important context when something has happened overnight or during a busy working day.
Ask questions such as:
- “Were there any speeding alerts this week?”
- “What happened with Van 3 overnight?”
An assistant can help you locate relevant events without requiring you to work through multiple screens. This is useful when you want to understand what happened first and then investigate further in DrivePro.
For regular notifications, you can continue using DrivePro’s existing speed monitoring features and notification settings.
5. Check visits to sites
If your business sends vehicles to customer locations, depots or regular work sites, location history can help you confirm when vehicles arrived and who visited.
Try these prompts:
- “When did the van arrive at the Guildford site?”
- “Who visited the depot last week?”
This can be useful for checking site attendance, reviewing vehicle movements or answering customer and operational questions.
For more structured location-based monitoring, DrivePro also supports geofencing.
6. Understand vehicle utilisation
Fleet utilisation is about how often and where your vehicles are being used.
For example:
- “How many days was the tipper on the Farnham job in September?”
Questions like this can help you review whether a vehicle was being used for a particular project or location during a defined period.
For small and medium-sized businesses, this can support practical decisions about vehicle allocation, job planning and whether existing vehicles are being used effectively.
7. Identify vehicles that need attention
The assistant can also help you find vehicles that may need checking.
Ask:
- “Which vehicles haven’t reported in the last day?”
This gives you a quick way to identify vehicles that may require follow-up. You can then investigate the vehicle’s status, location or tracker information in DrivePro.
The question is particularly useful when you manage several vehicles and want to identify exceptions without checking every vehicle individually.

Optional actions for administrators
The connection is read-only by default. However, an administrator can choose to enable changes by selecting Allow changes during the connection process.
If changes are enabled, you can ask the assistant to:
- Arm or disarm vehicles, such as: “Arm all the vans at the depot tonight.”
- Assign or unassign drivers.
- Log a fuel fill-up, such as: “Add 45 litres at £1.52 to Van 3.”
- Create a geofence around a vehicle’s current location, such as: “Make a 200 m geofence around where Van 3 is parked, call it Guildford depot.”
- Set up monitoring and arm schedules.
The assistant confirms each change with you before it is made. Every change is also recorded on the vehicle timeline as having been made via the assistant.
That gives you a convenient way to carry out selected tasks while keeping control over the final decision.

Trust and privacy come first
Connecting an AI assistant to fleet data requires clear controls. DrivePro’s MCP connection is designed to keep access limited and visible.
Read-only is the default. Changes require an administrator to explicitly select “Allow changes”, and this permission can be switched off by reconnecting.
Here is what you need to know:
- Secure sign-in: You sign in through DrivePro using standard OAuth. DrivePro does not share your password with the assistant.
- Clear consent: The DrivePro consent screen shows exactly what the assistant can see before you complete the connection.
- Admin control: Only an administrator can allow changes.
- Immediate disconnection: You can disconnect the assistant at any time from Connected Apps in your profile settings. Disconnection takes effect immediately.
- Driver privacy: Drivers only see their own data, including their own trips and assigned vehicles. They do not see colleagues’ data.
- No shared contact details: Email addresses and other contact details are not shared with the assistant.
- Audit trail: Every change made through an assistant is logged on the vehicle timeline.
These controls help you use the convenience of conversational access without losing oversight of your fleet data.
How to connect an AI assistant to DrivePro
You can connect a compatible assistant, such as Claude, in a few steps.
- Open your AI assistant and add a custom connector.
- Enter the DrivePro MCP address:
https://www.drivepro.io/mcp - You will be sent to DrivePro to sign in with your normal account.
- Review the DrivePro consent screen. It will show what the assistant can access.
- If you are an administrator and want to enable actions, tick Allow changes.
- Complete the connection.
After setup, you can manage the connection from Connected Apps in your DrivePro profile settings. You can view it or disconnect it whenever you choose.

A simpler way to work with fleet data
Fleet management software should help you make decisions, not add unnecessary steps to your working day.
With DrivePro’s MCP connection, you can ask direct questions about locations, trips, mileage, driver behaviour, alerts, sites, utilisation and vehicle health. Administrators can also choose to allow selected actions, with confirmation and an audit trail built in.
Whether you manage a growing fleet or track a single vehicle, conversational access can give you a faster way to find the information you need.
